  • What payment schedule is required?

    One third down / One third fifty percent complete / Balance upon completion

  • How will my house be prepped for painting?

    Exterior:

    • Washdown with a solution of Jomax and bleach to clean and kill mildew, moss, and Mold.  Solution is biodegradable. 
    • Cover surfaces not to be painted.   
    • Scrape and sand any loose or peeling paint.
    • Spot prime any bare wood or metal.
    • Apply complete prime coat if required.
    • Sand between coats.
    • Caulk around window and door frames and where cracks appear.
    • Remove and replace any loose window glazing.

    Interior:

    • Customer to remove all pictures, knick-knacks and breakables.
    • Contractor will move and replace furniture to original position as necessary to do painting.
    • All furniture and flooring will be covered or moved prior to any work being done.
    • Spackle and sand any nail holes, nail pops, cracks, repair and seal any water damaged area or otherwise damaged areas to drywall or plaster surfaces.
    • All patched areas will be sanded and primed.
    • Cracks in trim and around window and door frames will be caulked.
    • Work areas will be left neat and any trash and debris will be remove on a daily basis.  Customer will be consulted to see if they are comfortable with the work area.
  • What preparation do I need to do to be ready for you?

    You will be asked to have all pictures, knick-knacks and small movable furnishing to be placed somewhere else unless the customer is not capable to be able to do so.  Any large pictures and mirrors will be moved by this contractor. All pets should be kept in a separate room.

  • What grade of paint will be used?

    We will advise you what line of paint would be most suitable for the type of job being done.  You may have a particular paint that they want to use and that will be discussed when the estimate is being given.

  • How many painters will be on the job and how long will the job take?

    Each job is different depending on the size of the house and the condition of the surfaces to be painted.  On interior jobs, it follows the same format in considering the number of rooms and the work to be done.  All of this will be discussed with you on the initial visit to the property.

  • Is the contractor licensed?

    Yes, With the State of Maryland (Contractors License) and with a Maryland Home Improvement Commission  License (MHIC# 117432)

  • What about lead paint and dust?

     Measures are taken to contain dust and chips with the use of plastic drop cloths and the use of HEPA vacuums and equipment.

  • Do you have proof of Insurance?

    Yes, we can provide the customer upon request a Certificate of Insurance for their specific job and location.

  • Are your painters employees or independent contractors.

    Yes, all my painters are my employees, that are covered with worker’s compensation, liability insurance, and pay taxes and social security. 

  • Will you start on time every day? Will you finish on time?

    We always start at 7 am to 3:30 pm. Unless other arrangements have been made. Painting is not an exact science there are many variables that come into play such as weather, humidity, drying time, and unforeseen conditions not visible on the surface. We usually complete the job in our estimated time frame.

  • What will be cleaned up after the job is finished?

    On exterior work, we remove from the site any trash or debris we have created on a daily basis ie. Rotten wood, scrapings, or empty paint container.  All equipment is placed in a designated area satisfactory to the customer on a daily basis.  When the job is completed all of our equipment is removed and the grounds are raked and cleaned to the customers' satisfaction.


    On interior work, all equipment is removed and the rooms are dusted, vacuumed and the furniture is replaced to its original location.  If customer desires they are given any left over paint

  • Will there be someone to answer phone calls to answer any questions? Does the owner supervise the job.

    The owner is always available to answer any questions by cell phone or text.  At the start of each job, the owner is on-site to introduce the painters to the customer and explain the work that is to be done.  The owner will stop by the job on a daily basis to check on the progress, bring materials by and answer any questions the customer may have.
